ONLINE appointments available throughout the summer!
There are two ways to have Writing Hub consultations: synchronous and asynchronous.
What to expect in an online synchronous appointment: This feature allows for "live"conversation through video or text-based chat as well as real-time document sharing. Like all Writing Hub appointments, you can expect your consultant to talk with you about your concerns with the draft, their observations/insights, and actionable feedback for moving forward.
What to expect in an online asynchronous appointment: This feature allows for more flexibility. You do not need to be present for an asynchronous appointment. Just upload your writing project and your consultant will upload a 5-10 minute screencast within two hours of the end of your appointment for you to review on your own time. You will have access to the screencast file for 7 days.
How to make an appointment: white spaces are available; bright blue spaces have someone already scheduled for an appointment. Click on any open white space, fill out all required fields in the appointment form, and click "Save Appointment."
Same-day appointments are available. You will be able to make appointments with minimal wait time (in most cases, no more than 10-40 minutes wait time).
How to start/join your synchronous appointment: About 5 minutes before your appointment starts, click on your appointment box. For video chat, allow WCOnline to access your camera and microphone. For text chat, use the box on the right. Copy and paste the text of your paper into the document space or upload your paper and it will import the text into the open text space.
If you experience tech problems, please refresh your appointment form and click "Start or Join Online Consultation". If you are still unable to gain access, check your UCSD email account for a message from your writing consultant. If you continue to have problems, you can send the Writing Hub an email using the "Send Message to Center" option in the main (top left) dropdown menu.

Don't see an available appointment? Try the waitlist!
If no white spaces appear on a given day, all appointments for that day are full. To put your name on a waitlist, click the small white clock icon on the left side of the day/date. Should any spaces open up, you will be notified by email and/or text message.
Does the Writing Hub offer drop-in help?
Same-day appointments will be available; you will be able to make appointments with minimal wait time (in most cases, no more than 5-30 minutes wait time).
Note: You are limited to one appointment per day, three per week.
To access all Writing Hub services, please register for an account.
Click on "Register for an account" and follow the instructions. After registering, you can enter our online scheduling system to make an individual appointment or sign up for a workshop. (Make sure you select the appropriate schedule from the drop-down menu.)
